My name is Henrik Mouritsen. I have a Ph.D. in Biology and I work as a full professor of neurosensory sciences at University of Oldenburg . I mainly study the mechanisms underlying animal navigation, in particular the two magnetic senses existing in long-distance migratory birds. The home page of the group can be found here. My research group is mainly funded by the VolkswagenStiftung.

Before I started at Oldenburg University I got my Ph.D. at Odense Unversity, Denmark. My supervisor was Prof. Dr. Ole Næsbye Larsen.

After my Ph.d., I did a postdoc at Queen's University, Canada in the lab of Dr. Barrie J. Frost. This stay was made possible through a stipend and a research grant from Carlsbergfondet. My CV can be found here.

Besides my job at the University, I am a part-time nature photographer and have many private hobbies. Click on one of the cells to the left to find out more about them.
